CONTENTS

During this WSET Level 2 course, you will learn the following:

  • Taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Tasting Method.
  • How environment, grape growing, winemaking and ageing affect the style and quality of wines made from the eight main grape varieties: chardonnay, pinot grigio/gris, sauvignon blanc, riesling, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir, syrah/shiraz
  • Assess the style and quality of wines made from 22 locally important grape varieties, produced in over 70 wine regions around the world
  • Sparkling and fortified wines: How to make them and which grapes are used?
  • The different indications on the label
  • Serving and storing wine
  • Making wine/food combinations

Candidates who successfully complete the examination receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines are qualified to entry Level 3.

TIME

This course is taught in 16 hours of class (8×2 hours). Each class is from 19.00 - 21.00, unless stated differently. In addition to the classes, you should allow for 2.5 hours of self-study per week. The exam takes 1 hour.
