Pierre Martin, Sancerre 'Les Monts Damnes' 2022 AOC Sancerre

A fresh, concentrated white wine from the steepest slope in Sancerre: Les Monts Damnés; the damned mountain. If Sancerre had Grand Cru vineyards, Les Monts Damnés would be one of them.

Pale yellow color. Complex aroma, with beautiful chalky notes, pure citrus fruit, lime zest, white flowers, almond, and a hint of fresh mint. On the palate, grapefruit, wildflowers, and a beautiful minerality. Fine, long, and balanced finish with lively acidity.

Oysters, goat cheese, light fish dishes, lemon dishes, salads, shellfish, tomatoes, smoked salmon.

This is one to keep and can even be drunk up to 20 years after the harvest!

Domaine Pierre Martin is located in the hamlet of Chavignol in the heart of Sancerre. The vineyards, comprising 17 hectares, are all organically farmed, but still practiced biodynamically as much as possible. Pierre took over the company and his father's vineyards in 2004, including the renowned terroirs Les Monts Damnes and Culs de Beaujeu. His father, Yves, is still active in the business.
