Les Vins de Vienne, Gigondas 'Les Pimpignoles' 2021
AOC Gigondas
Medium bodied, spicy red wine from Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre
A fragrant wine with characteristic aromas of savory, pepper, and other spices. The wine has a lovely juiciness and acidity that balances a robust and full character, making it very drinkable. It is typical of the Southern Rhône.
The grapes are picked by hand and partially destemmed, then the wine ferments naturally with 2 to 3 weeks of skin maceration.
The wine then matures for 12 months in 75% French oak and 25% concrete. Only a small portion of the barrels are new.

Les Vins de Vienne is a collaboration between three top producers from the Northern Rhône: François Villard, Yves Cuilleron, and Pierre Gaillard. It all began with the discovery of old abandoned vineyards near Vienne, 25 kilometers from Lyon. The vineyards lie on the banks of the river, near the famous town of Condrieu, where the Rhône Valley is at its narrowest. The vineyards are situated on steep slopes. Pierre discovered that these Vienne vineyards had already been highly praised in antiquity and the Middle Ages, but now they lay abandoned. All three quickly became convinced that these vineyards could produce wines that would rank among the finest in the Rhône. The project has been a resounding success. So successful, in fact, that several winemakers in the area, with some of the finest vineyards in the Rhône Valley, have partnered with the three friends. And now, various wines are produced by Les Vins de Vienne throughout the Rhône Valley.
