Domaine Champault dates back to the 17th century, but it wasn't until 1850 that winemaking officially began. A phylloxera outbreak disrupted the plans, destroying all the vines. It wasn't until the early 20th century that Louis Champault replanted the 2 hectares of vineyards and gradually expanded and rebuilt the winery. Today, the fifth generation, brothers Claude and Laurent, are at the helm. Together they manage the now 22-hectare estate in the hamlet of Champtin, just southwest of Sancerre. The vineyards are located in the Sancerre and Menetou-Salon appellations.
