Bürklin-Wolf has classified its vineyards according to the system used in Burgundy. Grand Cru wines are at the top of the pyramid, followed by Premier Cru, Village, and then Estate wines. This classification is based on the "Royal Bavarian Vineyard Classification" of 1828.
According to this system, the Forster Ungeheuer is a Grand Cru wine and is made only from grapes from Grand Cru vineyards.
Fermentation occurs spontaneously in large, old oak barrels, followed by 15 months of aging in those same barrels. Bürklin-Wolf owns 0.9 hectares of the Ugeheuer vineyard and is considered one of the company's finest.
The wine is refreshing, enormously complex and enhanced by perfect acidity and minerality

For centuries, wine has been produced at Dr. Bürklin Wolf. On approximately 85 hectares, they primarily cultivate Riesling, among the finest in the entire region. This family-run winery, located in the Palatinate, is run by Bettina, the 22nd generation. She has carried on her grandfather's vision and began biodynamic winemaking in 2001, both in the vineyard and the cellar. This makes the wines even more terroir-driven and exciting! In the vineyard and cellar, very little is done to the wines; the goal is pure and distinctive wines. The wines are fermented and aged partly in stainless steel and partly in old wooden barrels. The wines are known for their distinctive character, a new style (modern) Riesling, with pronounced acidity and enormous length.
