Bürklin-Wolf, Riesling Trocken 2024

Bürklin-Wolf has classified its vineyards according to the system used in Burgundy. Grand Cru wines are at the top of the pyramid, followed by Premier Cru, Village, and then Estate wines. This classification is based on the "Royal Bavarian Vineyard Classification" of 1828.

According to this system, the Wachenheimer Riesling is a Village wine and is made from grapes from unclassified vineyards as well as from Premier Cru vineyards. Fifty percent of the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks and the other half in large 2400-liter oak barrels, after which aging follows in stainless steel and the same oak barrels.

The wine shows aromas of fresh green apple and peach, is juicy and has a nice minerality and elegant acidity.

Winemaker

For centuries, wine has been produced at Dr. Bürklin Wolf. On approximately 85 hectares, they primarily cultivate Riesling, among the finest in the entire region. This family-run winery, located in the Palatinate, is run by Bettina, the 22nd generation. She has carried on her grandfather's vision and began biodynamic winemaking in 2001, both in the vineyard and the cellar. This makes the wines even more terroir-driven and exciting! In the vineyard and cellar, very little is done to the wines; the goal is pure and distinctive wines. The wines are fermented and aged partly in stainless steel and partly in old wooden barrels. The wines are known for their distinctive character, a new style (modern) Riesling, with pronounced acidity and enormous length.
