Bürklin-Wolf has classified its vineyards according to the system used in Burgundy. Grand Cru wines are at the top of the pyramid, followed by Premier Cru, Village, and then Estate wines. This classification is based on the "Royal Bavarian Vineyard Classification" of 1828.
According to this system, the Forster Kirchenstück is a Grand Cru wine and is made exclusively from grapes from Grand Cru vineyards. Kirchenstück is considered by Bürklin-Wolf to be their best vineyard. Also in the The vineyard is described as such in the 1828 Royal Bavarian Vineyard Classification, and was formerly owned by the Speyer Bishopric. Today, Bürklin-Wolf owns 0.5 hectares of the vineyard. The soil is rich in black basalt and colored limestone, which gives the wine a refined minerality.
Fermentation takes place spontaneously in large, old oak barrels, followed by 15 months of maturation in the same barrels.
The wine is complex, layered, juicy and very elegant – a wine that can age very well.

For centuries, wine has been produced at Dr. Bürklin Wolf. On approximately 85 hectares, they primarily cultivate Riesling, among the finest in the entire region. This family-run winery, located in the Palatinate, is run by Bettina, the 22nd generation. She has carried on her grandfather's vision and began biodynamic winemaking in 2001, both in the vineyard and the cellar. This makes the wines even more terroir-driven and exciting! In the vineyard and cellar, very little is done to the wines; the goal is pure and distinctive wines. The wines are fermented and aged partly in stainless steel and partly in old wooden barrels. The wines are known for their distinctive character, a new style (modern) Riesling, with pronounced acidity and enormous length.
