Bernhard Ott, Stein Gruner Veltliner 2018
Lower Austria
Fresh, spicy, white wine
This pale yellow wine has a spicy nose of medium to high intensity, with characteristic notes of ripe peaches, white pepper, pear, and, to a lesser extent, freshly mown grass. The palate is broad and powerful, ripe rather than fresh, with notes of ripe melon and pear complemented by a tingling minerality. The finish is long and powerful, with an emphasis on spice and pepper.

"Ich bin ein Veltliner" (I'm a Veltliner) is a legendary saying by Bernhard Ott. In Austria, he's also known as Mr. Veltliner and is undoubtedly one of the best producers in this field. He produces Gruner from a variety of soil types, sourced from young to old vines (the older the vine, the higher the quality of the wine).
