Bodegas Menade, Nosso Verdejo 2021

A primal Verdejo, this tastes like it used to be. At least that's what the old "locals" say when you present this to them. In any case, this is a Verdejo Nature. Organically grown vineyard on limestone-clay soil. And without sulfite during vinification. It does have the malolactic fermentation and therefore a little less high in its acids. It is all a bit softer and a bit creamy.

Intense floral aroma, milky tones, wet earth, musty, well actually just grape juice. Aftertaste again flowery, with some honey and also a bit of biroche impressions. We think a good combination with Chicken a L'Orange.

In the south-west of Savoie lies the village of Jongieux, where Antoine and his parents make congenial, unaffected wines from local grape varieties. For whites these are jacquère and roussette and for reds gamay and mondeuse. The vineyards are situated on poor limestone slopes at about 400 meters altitude. The area has even recently been classified as a national heritage site because of its beauty. And for 7th generation Antoine, preserving this landscape is one of the most important aspects and therefore the domaine is certified 'Haute Valeur Environnementale', which means they are super sustainable.
